The Teach Our Own Initiative recognizes the failures of the public school system when it comes to Black children. It also, realizes the need for instsitutions like yours and what it takes for you to be successful. We have made it our mission to become a facilitator in the success of institutions like yours. Through fund raising, national campaigns, local and national networking and advocacy The Teach Our Own Initiative wants to be an essential element in the success of your institution. We would like to offer you the opportunity to be a member organization of the Teach Our Own Initiative. It is absolutly free to be a member. As we build our national network the benefits and resources of membership will become valuable to inistitutions such as yours. One of our main goals is to be a fund raising arm for our members. By way of lectures, concerts, and and other creative marketing vehicles The Teach Our Own Initiative want to help deliver the rescources necessary for our members to be successful. We believe that education is a tactic of war and the war is being waged against our children in the public school system and it is our responsibility to teach our own children and not the resposibility of our oppressor. TEACH OUR OWN MISSION
In recognition of the special education needs of African children living in America and in response to the substandard quality of education being recieved The United Front, Tahir RBG and Mind Power Music have declared the following: 1- To be an advocate for change in the quality of education bring received by African children. 2- To promote the establishment of learning centers that cater to the needs of African children. 3- To provide financial assistsnce by way of concert fundraisers to existing and start up learning centers. 4- To develop a nation wide network of educators and individuals to provide expertise and financial support to organizations in need
The Teach Our Own initiative is concerned that without immediate intervention our children will fall further and further behind the other ethnic groups in this country. The results of which will be catastrophic as technology continues to change the social, political and economic environment in which we live. The Teach Our Own initiative has determined that it is imperative that we take back the responsibility for educating our own children especially in the formative years.
